The boarding droid headed towards RR, Halibut and I with a shield in one arm and a large canon in the other. The droid fired its canon at Halibut with a direct hit in his cybernetic arm and leg. Sparks and oil from Halibut spewed.
RR returned fire, hitting its shield while I pulled out an ion blaster and fired. Lightning pulsated from my firearm, ignored the shield and struck the droid. The boarding droid was overwhelmed by the ion pulse and was knocked prone.
The remaining troopers returned fire hitting me. I retreated back towards the lifepods and took another shot back at the prone droid making sure it’s not coming back up frying its circuits. RR tried to get Halibut but slipped doing on Halibut’s oil slick. RR still managed to pull Halibut towards the lifepods.
Before the boarding droid rebooted and the remaining troopers in the bay returned fire, RR, Halibut managed to pull each other into a Lifepod and launched it into space. As much as I wanted to finish off the boarding droid and the troopers in the bay of the command center, I had to follow our directive and get a hold of the prototypes.
The pod was roomy, but it gave us limited vision and sense of where we were heading since we were on autopilot. Successfully, RR repaired Halibut’s arm and restored some functionality in his leg with a repair kit while I used a stimpack to heal the wound I took from the return fire. Once I was better, I tried to look out one of the pod’s portals to see if we were being followed. I saw we were approaching an asteroid which I assumed was Shantipole while seeing green and lasers whiz through the asteroid field.
The pod landed in a preprogrammed location on Shantipole which was a docking area that had a couple 2 man-skiffs. RR managed to get us closer to a skiff and I managed to find a rebreather mask to hope from the lifepod to the skiff since I would be exposed to a foreign environment for a moment.
From the skiff, RR asked Halibut, who was still on the pod, the location of the prototypes. Halibut said they were in the Science Bay and gave us a general location of it.
RR pointed out on the asteroid, there were Imp Troopers on the exterior of the asteroid so RR made some calculations to avoid any possible entanglements or being noticed. RR found a vent which we were able to park the skiff.
Once in the ventilation system, I made some calculated guesses the general direction of the Science Bay. We chose to remain in the vents to help us provide cover. Along the way, I had to short some fans with my ion blaster in order to get past them.
50 meters past a fan, we came across a vent and noticed that there were 7 captured troopers in a room with 3 armed Imp Stormtroopers. RR and I tried to see if we could get past this area in the vents but created too much noise. To not draw suspicion, I tried to make myself sound like a Imp Officer pursuing the rebellion in the vents. I don’t think the Stormtroopers bought my story and sent one to examine the vents.
Once the Stormtrooper popped his head in, I tried to blast him but missed. RR then scored a hit taking him out. However we had to deal with the other two.
I threw a smoke grenade to provide cover, but accidentally threw it close to my location. Smoke billowed in the vent but eventually covered the room the Imps were in. They fired at me, hitting me while RR tried to make it to the vent entrance. RR took out a second trooper while I finally was able to take out the 3rd Imp in the room.
We took the 3 Imp blasters and handed them to the trooper we freed. One of those troopers happens to be a pilot which is helpful since we are in need for a second pilot for the second prototype.
I hope Mathus, Grabo and Cael are having better luck with the Imp. May the force be with them.
